Flore C of E Primary near Northampton (May 2006)
This project which was a week long was based on music. It was linked to the “Take one picture” scheme organised by the National Museum. This Nation wide project focuses on one Picture each year and is designed to encourage cross curricular learning. The picture 'Two Boys and a Girl making Music', 1629
by Jan Molenaer was chosen for 2005/6 [as seen here].
Over the week each class of students were exposed to music from different parts of the world including African, Blues from the deep South of America, Kowali from Pakistan and more. The students learnt how to identify different rhythms and shapes within the music and interpret this into visual patterns, marks and colours on paper. Then by listening to simulated noises as would have been played by the characters in the painting “Two boys and a Girl making Music” Each student designed a clay tile that was to be incorporated in the finished Mosaic. |
