- Thrapston High Street is a new piece of installation work created in the galleries large chicken shed. It uses as its central theme images of traffic moving toward you recorded from the High Street in Thrapston which, are projected onto the interior double doors of the shed. The work not only challenges our understanding of everyday events such as high street activity but makes associations between objects that may be found in both contrasting environments. The relationship between the projected views of the architecture and the actually existing architectural fabric of the shed draw parallels between the two places which helps create an atmosphere that is personal, allusive and strangely nostalgic.
- Willow Brook
This work brings a tranquil and beautiful rural moving image of an idyllic flowing brook into an interior space of a darkened garage. The reflections that are produced by the bottom half of the scene being projected onto a wall of acrylic mirror create changing drawn like images throughout the whole interior space. The viewer becomes an interactive part of the three dimensional composition as they move, altering the work by casting their silhouette onto the walls and thus becoming a part of the canvas.
The dynamics within the work include the use of a bath and glass screens that have an obvious relationship to moving water within a domestic environment. . This subtly draws our attention to the idea that domesticity is a civilised urban activity which is contrasted by the non domesticated rural scene. |
